Jack Canfield left us all in awe!

Wow! Jack Canfield held two seminars in Verona on Tuesday and most of the women I spoke with (many of whom are in my “network“) are still on a high! We just can’t wrap ourselves around all the info we learned and all the inspiration we have received for ourselves and seen other experience!

It is just incredible how the electric the room was; so many people got tuned in to exactly what their passion and mission was… I hope you take the opportunity to check out the blog for the event and read some of the stories for yourself!

The afternoon session focused on The Success Principles, a book I personally own and would recommend to anyone for professional and personal development. I own the CDs too - get for driving to or listening to while working – I get something new from them upon each listen (good thing they’re not vinyl or they’d be worn through!). Here are some great videos of Jack describing some of the principles - if you’ve never heard him speak this is a good place to get a feel for his style.
There were about 350 people at the afternoon event – 300 was the goal – and was amazing to see that many professionals in one room who are interested in self development and professional growth.

The evening session focused on The Law of Attractionand Jack’s new book, “Jack Canfield’s KEY to Living the Law of Attraction” - a simple guide to creating the life of your dreams.

“This book is your guide for using the Law of Attraction to create the life you desire. Within these pages, Jack clearly explains not only what you need to know, but what you need to do in order to attract what you want in your life. The Key to Living the Law of Attraction addresses the important issues of clarity, purpose and action. This thought provoking book will take you step-by-step through the processes of defining your dreams, goals, and desires. Along the way, you will also gain a greater understanding of yourself, a sense of who you really are and why you are here.”

I challenge you to pick one area that you’d like to make a change in and find a mentor – whether it be Jack, through one of his books or coaching programs or attending an event - or a person in your life that has the skills you need to develop in yourself, and get started TODAY on making a change that will affect your whole life!

Do we all need to dress like men to succeed?

I receive an e-mail newsletter called Women for Hire(among the dozens of other publications I peruse on a weekly basis. Today’s message led with:

In the hot-off-the-press February issue of Vogue magazine, editor in chief Anna Wintour writes:
Imagine my amazement, when I learned that Hillary Clinton, our only female president hopeful, had decided to steer clear of our pages at this point in her campaign for fear of looking too feminine. The notion that a contemporary woman must look mannish in order to be taken seriously as a seeker of power is frankly dismaying. How has our culture come to this?

It was interesting to read the three responses they received from when it was posted at 7:40pm to the last comment at 9:15am…

I would like to have seen the exact quote of what Hillary said, as the articles take on it was very different than the women commenting on it; which makes me wonder at how we interpret the “same” piece of information….

Later in the same e-mail they discuss their national job fairs, and this - Business Attire Required – grabbed my attention…. so what is Business Attire anymore? Is that the power suit they’re making a statement about in the other article?

How do you feel you need to dress to succeed?

Imagine what you could create if you embraced the unknown…

I’m on a great conference call with Michael Gelb and Marcia Wieder - which I found out about as a member of the Amazing Dreamers forum. Amazing Dreamers is a community for people who want to take serious steps forward to making their dreams happen.

Drawing on Leonardo’s notebooks, inventions and legendary works of art, Michael’s book introduces seven principles for thinking like history’s greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci. I think it’s fascinating and would love to read more about these principles:

Curiosita
An insatiably curious approach to life and an unrelenting quest for continuous learning.

Dimostrazione
A commitment to test knowledge through experience, persistance, and a willingness to learn from mistakes.

Sensazione
The continual refinement of the senses, especially sight,as the means to enliven experience.

Sfumato
(Literally “Going up in smoke”) A willingness to embrace ambiguity, paradox, and uncertainty.

Arte/Scienza
The development of the balance between science and art, logic and imagination.”Whole-Brain” thinking.

Corporalita
The cultivation of grace, ambidexterity, fitness, and poise.

Connessione
A recognition of and appreciation for the interconnectedness of all things and phenomena. Systems thinking.

Thery are having a conference in San Francisco – you can win a trip to the conference, all expenses paid and get to share your dream with others! Click here for details! I think I need to enter!

Remember:

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” Gloria Steinem

So, keep dreaming! And take a step towards a dream today! I have!

Get another serving of Chicken Soup – served up by a local author/speaker, Teresa Huggins!

Teresa will be speaking at the Metro Utica BPW Recognition Luncheon on October 16th. Everyone loved the talk she gave earlier this year for the MV Women’s Business Network – so we’re excited to hear about what she has in store for us this time!

National Business Women’s Week is nearly here – we have a week of great events lined up; breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings with interesting speakers and tasty food AND networking opportunities everywhere!

Many of the events require registration – and some are free to attend! Men are also welcome to join us – and you don’t have to be a member of any of the participating groups to come.

So, join us… be “well fed “and ”well informed” at events that are “well worth” your time!

Everyone can use a little inspiration on Mondays…

How many weeks ago did I say that I intended to have Elwoods as a client? Well, it’s in the works - breaking news as it happens!

So, I found this cool page of audio interviews, e-mailed to me from “Women for Hire”, I really like the Diane Sawyer interview – click to take a listen to her story – she sounds like she’s a “Secret” believer too:

DIANE SAWYER

Diane Sawyer on what makes her tick, her theory on hiring and mentoring, a lack of sleep on Sunday nights, the books on her desk, and why she’s particularly fond of staplers.

What a great event at Minnowbrook that Teresa Huggins guided in April – we were so inspired! 4 of the 10 participants were from the MV Business Women’s Network – great to have nearly an equal number of women you did and didn’t know – we learned so much from and about each other… the pictures area awesome too, Barb Goldsmith did a great job capturing the beauty of the place and the “fun-ness” of our group of women – we’re ready to do it again soon!

Jan Fraser & Teresa are two of six authors of a new book, “Dream, Dare & Dance” which is intended to be released by October (or maybe July – they’re on a mission!)

Do you know how one mistake can slow you down? Getting “unstuck”… with help…

First of all, I have to post this Dilbert here!!! I can’t help myself, I give full credit to Scott Adams and his marvelous mind – this is too perfect to let pass without sharing with the universe!

I bet there are some bloggers out there that feel that way – but my mission is to give you all the positively reinforcing and creatively stimulating marketing, advertising, networking, and personal growth tools I possibly can! I can’t say enough about “stumble” – get it today!!!

I got “stuck” a few weeks ago – typed up a great list of websites you could really benefit from and yet again – twice since the dawn of this blog – it blipped away and really p&^%ed me off! So, I got a little sidetracked with frustration…

Then I went to the WISE conference and the PowerWithin Secret Teachers conference – lifted up and flying after two awesome events – which I will go into more detail on soon so you don’t miss either next time they’re available!

I have to run out to a client soon, then multiple errands, and my first board meeting for YEP… but I need to share this with you NOW! Have sent it to a few people who were very excited to hear it…. go to this link:

http://www.boxofcrayons.biz/video/speaking-sample.php

He is awesome! Getting unstuck – focusing not on busy-ness but saying no to good work and yes to greatness! This is a link to save – the next time you need a lift – the next time you need to make a tough decision – listen – and regroup – and fly!

Well need to run – more sooner than later!

Do you find yourself thinking: “I can’t get no satisfaction?”

“Going with the flow” is a phrase that’s been around for awhile – but what does it mean and how do you do it? I received an interesting e-mail from the people at Sedona, the article, “What is the key to feeling satisfied?” caught my eye (sounds like it could be in Cosmo or Cooking Light!); it’s about finding the flow in your life and describes some of specific things you can do to discover that for yourself:

• Having a purpose: Engaging in a challenging activity that your skills are suited for
• Using your skills to pursue a clear goal
• Getting
immediate feedback on progress toward the goal
• Maintaining clear markers of achievement toward your goal

Several of these are things I’m beginning to work on with Jack Canfield’s book, The Success Principles, (love the cds, but the book has even more info).

Satisfaction isn’t a given – so get past your sense of entitlement if you have one – we need to work on being satisfied. The good news is the work is (or can be if you let it) an entertaining adventure! I remember hearing Alanis Morissette say that she was learning to enjoy the process and how important that was to the outcome (yes, Jack & Alanis in one article! I’m nothing if not eclectic!)

So think about how you want to start that journey… I’ll be posting some suggestions here and let you know some things that worked for me.
